DESCRIPTION

Side effects: anxiety, nervousness, fatigue, sleep disturbance, fatigue, headache, dizziness, tremors, convulsive status, decreased libido, anorexia, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, diarrhea, increased salivation, rash, urticaria, that often accompanies the systemic violation of the lung, kidney or liver disease, vasculitis.
Dosage: The starting and maintenance dose of Prozac is 20 mg/day. If necessary, you may increase the dose to 20 mg/day weekly. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg.
Overdose: nausea, vomiting, CNS excitement, hypomania, seizures. Treatment: induction of vomiting or gastric lavage, the appointment of activated charcoal, symptomatic and supportive therapy.
Cautions: Prozac is used in people with liver and kidneys disorders, with a history of epileptic seizures, cardiovascular diseases with extreme caution. Changing in blood glucose levels may be at patients with diabetes. Prozac increases the probability of epileptic seizures in debilitated patients. With simultaneous use of Prozac and electroconvulsive therapy may develop prolonged seizures. Prozac can be applied not earlier than 14 days after stopping treatment by MAO inhibitors. Elderly patients require correction dosing regimen. Safety of Prozac in children has not been established. In the period of treatment with Prozac you should avoid drinking alcohol.
Interactions: Prozac is incompatible with MAO inhibitors, other antidepressants, furazolidone, procarbazine, because interaction with these drug causes autonomic lability, diarrhea, myoclonus, elated state, fever, hyperthermia, muscular rigidity, hypertensive crisis, agitation, tremor, restlessness, cramps, delirium, coma, possible death. Prozac increases the risk of bleeding with the admission of warfarin. Tryptophan increases serotoninergic properties of Prozac. Prozac is incompatible with ethanol.
